Dreambert and Bedsmith, two Pi’illo creatures, wake up one morning with no memory of who they are, where they are, or how they got there. They find themselves in an unfamiliar house, in an unfamiliar city, feeling lost and disoriented. Just as panic sets in, a strange man named Wonky appears, claiming to be their father. He suggests that they must have fallen asleep watching TV the night before, but before he can explain further, things get even stranger. A creature named Starlow, a Star Sprite, appears, claiming to be their friend. She says that they planned to meet up in the city, but Dreambert and Bedsmith have no memories or plans for her. They reluctantly follow Starlow outside, unsure of their surroundings. They wander the city, acting as if they don’t recognize their surroundings or Starlow. Despite their confusion, Starlow continues to communicate with them as if they’ve been friends for a long time. Showing them around, Starlow patiently explains their supposed friendship and names, trying to reassure them. Dreambert and Bedsmith, however, remain confused and unable to understand their past or bond with Starlow. As the day progresses, Starlow becomes increasingly concerned. At first, she thinks they are simply pretending to have forgotten. However, as their strange behavior continues, she begins to worry that something is seriously wrong with their memory. By the end of the day, Starlow’s uncertainty deepens and she begins to wonder if there is more to their forgetfulness. Dreambert and Bedsmith are sent back to the house they woke up in, and Wonky, still claiming to be their father, prepares them a bed that seems unfamiliar to them. Too tired and disoriented to protest, they go to bed. As they fall asleep, questions about their identities, their pasts, and the cause of their sudden amnesia begin to creep into their minds. The mystery of their lost memories remains unsolved, and they fall into a restless sleep, unsure of what the future holds.
